My Bum Marketing Site Is Making Money Again!!

By Kidino @ 3 July, 2008

One time ago, I created a new site based on Bum Marketing strategies. I took a product name and created a website targeting the name for SEO. It turned out well. The site gets good enough traffic and is making a few hundred dollars a month.

Not bad a for a site that only gets about 500 unique visitors per month. Since the traffic is highly targeted, it was converting really good. You see, my website is listed quite high when people search for that particular product name. And you know that when people are searching for a product, they are already sold.

What I am promoting is a weight loss CPA offer. I was getting about $20 per sign-up. Customers only had to pay about $5 for their first order, just for the shipping.

The thing is, the company that I was promoting later closed down their affiliate program. They were using 1ShoppingCart back then. I don’t know why, no notice, no warning, the affiliate program is suddenly gone.

So for a few months, while the website still gets traffic regularly from search engines, it was not making me any money. However, recently, I discovered that a merchant is selling that same product via a new affiliate network. So I signed up with that network and started promoting it again.

After about two weeks, I already have two sales. Each sale gives me $25 in commission. Cool eh? I am back in the game…

Anybody wants this site? I am sure you can make more if you submitted new articles to article directories.

How about $1000? Any takers??

Rather than telling you all the good things, my XSitePro Version 2 review starts off by telling you the people who SHOULD NOT get XSitePro. I also cover the things that you CAN’T DO with XSitePro.

I promise you it’s an interesting review. Do check it out.

First Ad Position Is Not Always The Best Thing…

By Kidino @ 16 June, 2008

That is why testing is important. I was testing something new that I learned about Adwords. And I got myself the first ad position at really cheap price. The thing is, why I get double digit click-through rates, it’s not converting like before. Previously, before implementing this technique, I get conversion around 20 to 30% (it’s a squeeze page). But after using the technique, it’s surprising that there are days without any new subscribers at all.

But it’s great that I get top ad position cheap. I changed my ad position preference to 3 and I am starting to see that I get my old conversion back.

In case you are wondering, this technique does not involve any change in landing page or ad copy. So that’s why I was so surprised.

I guess I just want to share this with you — the first ad position, no matter how cheap you get them, may not be a good thing. Compare it with the cost per conversion…

14 Hours of Downtime…

By Kidino @ 29 May, 2008

I woke up yesterday to find my websiteS (yes, a capital S) are all down.

It turns out that my website hosting suspended my account for being 4 days late on my payment. They couldn’t get payment from my card and decided to suspend my account. And worse, because of that, I couldn’t use my email and that made it difficult to get in touch with them.

Even worse than that, their billing department opens from 9am to 6pm EST, and I discovered my websites were no longer online at about 7am Kuala Lumpur time, about 7pm EST. I had to wait 14 hours to get all these settled.

I don’t know any service or business that shuts you out like that immediately. Some businesses will let the service run for at least 14 days, while trying to contact you and collect payment.

OK, OK… I didn’t update my credit card details. But 4 days late? C’mon… You can’t even kick your tenant out that easy. I don’t think I even get that “credit card declined” email. If I did, I missed it.

Alright… just a little rant. I do hope they look into this matter and start to think about their policy deep and hard…
